Code of Practice
As a Registered Training Organisation, MEL is required to meet the AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration in order to be registered to deliver and assess nationally recognised training and issue nationally recognised qualifications.
We understand that failure to meet these obligations or supporting regulatory requirements may result in loss of registration.
Legislative Requirements
MEL will comply with relevant Commonwealth and State legislation that includes, but is not limited to, the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000, Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995, Industrial Relations Act 1999, Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, Privacy Act 1988 and Copyright Act 1968.

MEL is committed to providing a quality service with a focus on continuous improvement. We actively seek and value feedback from students, staff and employers for incorporation into future programs.
Access and Equity
MEL is committed to ensuring that access to training is maximised for all clients. All participants will be recruited in an ethical and responsible manner, consistent with the requirements of the endorsed Training Package. We will ensure that equity principles for all clients are implemented through the fair allocation of resources and the right to equality of opportunity without discrimination. To encourage positive outcomes for participants and clients, access and equity principles and practices are incorporated into the development and delivery of all training programs and services.
External Review
MEL has agreed to participate in external monitoring and audit processes. This includes random quality audits, audit following complaint and audit for the purposes of re-registration.
Marketing and Advertising
MEL markets its vocational education and training products with integrity, accuracy and professionalism.
Admission Procedures
All aspects of social justice will be adhered to when admitting candidates. Applicants will be assessed for entry to courses on successfully meeting course pre-requisites, a demonstrated capacity and willingness to complete training in a professional and courteous manner and an appropriate level of written and spoken English.
Students require an ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English, as these skills form an integral part of training - and must be acquired before entry. Where necessary, applicants may be referred to external agencies for language, literacy and/or numeracy assistance prior to commencing their course. MEL reserves the right to only admit candidates who, in the opinion of the selection panel, meet entry criteria.
Management and Administration
MEL has policies and management strategies, which ensure sound financial and administrative practices. Mater Health Services guarantees MEL's sound financial position and safeguards student's fees until used for training and/or assessment. We have a refund policy, which is fair and equitable. Student's records are managed securely and confidentially, and are available for student perusal on request. MEL holds the necessary insurance policies to conduct our business.
Counselling and Support Services Available
MEL undertakes a duty of care towards its students and course counselling is available on request. MEL will support students as required and as appropriate including referral to external providers.
Client Service
MEL has sound management practices to ensure effective client service, including timely issue of assessment results and qualifications. Qualifications will be appropriate to competencies achieved and issued in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
MEL is committed to ensuring prospective students have sufficient and clear information about MELS services prior to enrolment. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the relevant course coordinator for assistance with, clarification of or for more information as required.
