Entry Requirements


School leavers are required to have successfully completed year 12 (or equivalent) with at least a sound level of achievement in English.


Non-school leavers/mature applicants are selected via criteria relating to merit, work experience and previous study.


In addition to these requirements, all Diploma of Nursing Programs students will be required to obtain the following:


A current First Aid Certificate (HLTFA301B Apply First Aid) with CPR component currency (HLTCPR201A or HLTCPR201B) prior to commencement. It is an expectation that the student remains current in CPR annually.


A criminal history check from the Queensland Police Service prior to commencement of the program.


Immunisations. Prior to commencement of the course you will be required to be immune or be in the process of receiving vaccinations for the following communicable diseases:


• Hepatitis B
• Influenza
• Varicella (Chicken pox)
• MMR Measles Mumps and Rubella
• Pertussis


A Blue Card, prior to clinical placement in paediatric areas. Further information is accessible from the Commission of Children and Young People and Child Guardian website http://www.ccypcg.qld.gov.au/. The Blue Card application is free for students. Please allow sufficient time for processing of your application.



The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) has recently revised it's English language skills registration standard to ensure ENs have demonstrated English language proficiency.
